#1 Heat transfer
Transferring heat is the core function of the coils. When compared to aluminum coil copper has a great heat exchange capacity. So, it makes the room cool faster and thus saves electricity consumption. Therefore, copper coils are always standing in the top in case of heat transfer.

Naturally, aluminum condensing coils are quite fragile compared to copper condensing coils. The former one is more vulnerable to dent by environmental & external forces. This trouble is generally overcome by keeping the condenser coil in a cabinet. However, by doing so there will be an impediment in the radiation of the accumulated heat and also maintenance is more intricate.

Comparatively, a copper coil is costlier than aluminum. So, out of this reason many people get back to go for copper one. The use of aluminum has been popularized among the common people due to its cheaper availability. So, while considering cost factor, aluminum coil holds the first preference.
Normally, coils are fixed in a condenser and it is mounted outside of the home. Hence, it has to face climatical changes and needs regular cleaning for a better performance and functioning. Copper coils are sturdy and prone to any type of weather condition whereas aluminum coils are vulnerable. So, aluminum coils should be kept in a covered cabinet for a proper maintenance. But, it is really a herculean task.
On that note, it is revealed that air conditioners equipped with copper coils are always expensive. But, the lifetime would be around 10 years solidly.
