Steps to Cook Chicken Biryani in Pressure Cooker
#01 Chicken Marinating will be your first step to begin your chicken biriyani journey. This step requires making gashes over the chicken and cutting them into small and suitable sizes.
#02 Once done, use a utensil in which you can mix it along with curd, garlic paste, chilli powder, masala and of course salt.
#03 Now we can move on to the basmati rice, it is important to wash and rinse the basmati rice in water for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure it doesn’t exceed 30 minutes.
#04 When both chicken and rice are ready, it is time to get the cooker ready
#05 Now comes the part that makes it different from the conventional biriyani making process. In this step the real thing take places which is the cooking part.
#06 Start off by heating the cooker over a medium heat. Now pour either ghee or oil into it slowly followed by tempering using cloves, cardamoms etc.
#07 Now go ahead and add onions and keep mixing them for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn the lightest shade of brown.
#08 After this, it’s time to bring in the marinated chicken which should be added to the cooker. It is vital to keep checking the chicken is receiving equal level of attention on every side so as to avoid any sort of burning. This step can be stopped once the liquid residue to the marinated chicken starts to disappear.
#09 Once you are certain the chicken is all set then it is time to add ingredients like masala, tomato, yogurt which will give flavour to your chicken biriyani.
#10 Then it’s time to get the chicken layered in the bottom which can be slowly followed by the adding of rice over it.
Later make a mixture with coconut milk and salt worth 3 cups which can be added on top of your rice and chicken into the cooker.
#11 The last and simple step is to garnish the entire thing with fried onions to give biriyani its final touch up.
Slowly, reduce the flame of your cooker and set a whistle. Make it a point to remove the cooker from the stove on first whistle otherwise it can lead to over-burning which may end up being disastrous.
Finally, ensure that you divide the biriyani properly when serving as now you clearly know the bottom consists of masala and the top of rice. Every serving will contain the right amount of rice and chicken if you succeed in doing it exactly the same way.
